Frogger!

So I was sooooooo excited, I was almost done with my first nice sock. I decided to try it on before I start the toe shaping and gasp! It was too big! There was no getting around it, I had to frog the whole thing. Oh well, it will be better for it. They are thankfully just ankle socks too, so it's not so bad. I recast on less stitches and it is coming along nicely. I am making it out of Hempathy, a tan shade, with teal cotton fine accents on the heel and toe. I just finished the heel flap and am due to start turning the thing tomorrow morning.

Well that's all for today. Have a good one, go check out Crafty Leftovers.

Woooooo!

Alrighty, so the new pattern is up over at Crafty Leftovers. You should go check it out. There is a contest like usual. All you have to do is comment on the pattern's post before the next pattern is up (two weeks from yesterday)! It is a random drawing and today Nichole from Canada won. She will be getting two skeins of yarn and a nice print off of the pattern. If you send me a picture of any finished project you get a kit for either the current or the next pattern! All patterns are free and I only ask that you do not sell them or things made from them or publish them without written permission from me.

Good news on a personal note too. I secured a job at an art store for the fall. 20% discount on art supplies here I come!

My air conditioner has been out for the last week and a half and it is finally fixed. Thank goodness, being so hot made me completely unproductive. So the production level is back up and all is good. I was getting really worn out too because I was not sleeping well at all.

And here is a random picture for you.
I miss this little guy so much, I can't wait for him to get back home with me. But that is an undetermined time.

Bonsoir!

I haven't forgotten about you blog, i swear!

So I haven't been able to post in a few days and I honestly don't have much crafty stuff to report. I've been spending all my free time working on my French class and that is about it. I have been sqeezing in some time here and there on the wavy line sweater and the "go everywhere with everything" sweater and almost have the backsides of both done... well no, the backside of the wavy line sweater is almost done, I'm almost the the shoulder shaping on the other, so not really almost done with the back, but to the point where i'm making progress that can be seen. I'm not on my computer, so no pictures today, but I will try later.

Quicky Post!

Okay, so not much has been going on lately except class and work and a broken air conditioner and no mr beuler around and no jason around and no crafting and no blogging. That about sums it up.

In better news, I am having a contest over at my other blog Craft Leftovers and you should enter. All you have to do is post a comment and that's it, you are in. You can say things like "wow you are so cool" or "wow you look like drool" you know, whatever you choose. The prize is a print out of the pattern and two skiens of yarn (which is enought to make about two water bottle slings for yourself and a friend). I will send it to you free of charge. So go comment. You have one more week to do so. The deadline is when I post the next pattern. If you make a water bottle sling and send me a picture you get a suprise prize! It will contain goodies beyond your imagination! A sampling of items that your suprise package would contain is: buttons, goofy fabric, yarn, ribbon, knitting needles, etc.

And here is a random picture to make you happy.

this is where i work just about every day, woooooooooooooooooo! I am so tired by the way.

At the Park with the boys

So Jason, Mr. Beuler, and I all went to the park Saturday morning before heading off on our Chicago adventure. The park was beautiful as usually and the company grand. Here are some pictures that I took while there. I will post pictures of Chicago tomorrow.

Today is the last day Mr Beuler will be with me, Jason is taking him while my apartment is being showed and inspected and all that other garbage you have to deal with when you move to a new place. It's so sad and I will miss him so much. I'm sure I will servive, I will just spend more time at the library and school. I'm not sure how long he will have to be gone, hopefully not too long, but I have a bad feeling it may have to be a couple months... sigh... I'm going to go home and spend some time with the little guy and give him a bath too.

Chicago was grand as always, we went to visit one of Jason's friends there. We went to the museum of contemporary photography, the chicago public library, matt's new place, matt's present place, and the thai grill restaurant... all and all it was a pretty good trip, but just for the record jason's friends give the worst directions ever and it took us sooo long to get there and we ended up so far south on 90 that we saw the red line end and i had to pee so bad and we stopped at a gas station that was soooo gross and thankful the guys working there, who were incased in bullet proof glass, had mercy on me and let me use the employee's only bathroom because i'm not sure why, but i was greatful. After chicago we headed home and decided to stop at another friend's house who is also bad at directions. We got so lost going there the last time we visited because he said "take a right, right, left and you are good" which was true, but which right? which left? seriously. So I was very specific when I called to get directions and we got there okay and had some awesome icecream and got to play with their little yorkie puppy, who was rediculously cute.

Really the high light of the whole trip was the library's reading room on the 9th floor which was like stepping into a greek courtyard. The whole ceiling was a sky light and there were trees and plants and it was beautiful and if i lived in that city i would spend a lot of my time there. And I will live in that city and i will spend a lot of time there.

The end.

Fini!

So I finally finished my drawing class... which I did no drawing for... haha. I guess you could say I was "stretching the boundries of drawing." Yeah, sure I was. Anyway, here is what I made. I will show you some process pictures in the next post, I don't have enough time to right now.

I have some good news. I found out they have wireless at the public library, and it's reallly fast. So I'm going to start coming here to use the internet for free. It's about a block from my job, so I can just come over here before or after I work! Yeah! Free internet!

Oh, and more good news. Jason has started working on my gallery site and it is looking really good! So hopefully it will be up and running by the fall semester.

And did I mention that I am exhausted from this last week of class and that my French class starts monday! I'm so nervous and tired.... not a good combonation, but I am going to be spending the weekend in Chicago with Jason and his friend. It will be a nice weekend to recharge my batteries so to speak.

Up and running!

Well, I know it's a day late, but I was detained away from my computer yesterday and it was completely out of my control. The important news is that the first pattern has been posted at Crafty Leftovers! You get a prize if you make it and post a picture in the flickr group, which I'm not sure how that works exactly, but I made a group and put a link in the sidebar to it. So email me if you make the pattern and want to post pictures of it and get a special suprise.

Anyway that is all for now. Go check out the pattern and make it and post pictures of it and I will be happy.

Here are the three drawings that I did all together on the bookshelf. I gave away the one on the left to my neighbors for a going away present, I hope they liked it okay. I'm going to miss those two.

And here are a couple pictures along the same thing from my sketch book. By the way, sketch books are amazing... I have yet again taken up the habit of writing and sketching all the ideas I have even if I have no intention of starting or completing them, but all the same I can flip through anytime I feel and get inspired.

So that's all for now, the first of the Crafty Leftover Patterns will be posted tomorrow. How exciting!

Craft Leftovers

All summer long I have been trying to be very resourceful as far as projects to keep me occupied goes. I have spent as little as possible and have just used what I have on hand (which is too much) and things from other projects that I have done for my art classes at the University (I'm a painting major there). I have found that there is a complete lack of books/patterns for making things out of small bits of this and that and there is also a lack of contemporary uncomplicated patterns for the home. The best I have found so far is Mason-Dixon Knitting, which is a great book, but it only deals with knitting. What about all the great things you can make out of left over fabric and paper and buttons?

Main point: I am going to post a new pattern bi-monthly that is made out of leftovers from other projects and more often than not for the home, but there will be a few things that can be worn or used outside. It should be fun and all the patterns will be free! And on top of that there will be a flickr group set up so you can post pictures of what your finished project looks like and and and there will be prizes! Everyone likes free stuff right? Well the way it will work out is everyone who finishes the pattern and posts a picture to the flickr group before the next pattern is posted will have their name entered into a drawing for the prize. The prizes will range from skiens of yarn to buttons to books, it will at least loosely corrolate to what the project is. I will post what the prize is when the pattern is posted. So now that all the guidelines are set up I will have to post a pattern and think up a prize, but that will happen Tuesday when I have internet access again.

Happy Crafting!

p.s. this was the secret project I couldn't wait to tell you about.... I just couldn't wait, I was too excited, but the first pattern will be up on Tuesday.

Change Purse!

Okay, well here is the picture of the change purse that I made and don't you just love the button! it's my favorite button ever! Anyway, it is up in the store and all set to find a new home, you should adopt it, it's only $5 (plus s&h) to give this little guy a new home, go check him out and let me know what you think. Also I updated all of the bookmark pictures and I lowered the price to $1! what a deal! get yours today! ~said in cheesey announcer voice~

Well, i'm devising my ultimate plan, and will tell you about it later in the week, i need to finish some preliminary stuff up first, and also come up with the rules and regulation type of things. I'm really excited and I'm having a hard time not giving it away so i better sign off for now.

Hello again

Well, no pictures today, but maybe tonight. I'm going to go to panera and update with pictures from there, but I thought I would drop a little note to everyone out there in blogdom.

I have something great in the works, but I have to prepare it more before I can tell you all about it, I don't want you stealing my great ideas, hehe, yeah right. Basically there are free patterns I'm writing involved and prizes and other good stuff... so keep an eye out for it... I will keep you posted.

I'm going to update my etsy store tonight too, I'm finally going to add that change purse I made (it has a swanky button that I love) and some better pictures of the bookmarks, I'm also going to change the price of the bookmarks to $1 instead of $1.50. There will still be the s&h, but if you order more than one it will be flat rate, like .50 for 1 or more... so go get yourself a bookmark.... after I update tonight.... so go get yourself and your friends a bookmark tomorrow!

Well.... that's all for now, I will try to have a more complete post tonight, with pictures, yes... pictures!

No nonsense here

Well, maybe a bit. I feel like I should post a little something, but I'm not exactly sure what. Not really much to report. I think I'm going to start selling some books out of my library, the ones that I have read but don't feel the need to ever read again. not because they are bad, but I don't know.... hmmm what is it about some books that make me want to include or disculude them from my library. Oh, I do have a first print edition of Atlas Shrugged that I'm going to get rid of, bad memories of the person who gave it to me and I will never be able to read through the whole thing because of it. It's in not so great condition because it was a library book so there are all the marks of a library in it. I guess there is a book store in Ames that gives you money for books or double credit for books so say if they were going to give you a dollar for a book, they would give you $2 in store credit instead. So I was thinking before I move I could go there, drop off my books, get store credit, and than after I move, go back and buy more books. Sounds good to me anyway. I'm kind of nervous about moving, I will need to start packing things up and cleaning the grime out of my apartment that has acumulated from a year + of art and craft making. Good luck on that for me. I'm pretty sure that as soon as I tell my landlord he will start showing it so I will have to give up mr b for a bit, which Jason has offered to take him in for a bit. I sure do love that guy. Anyway, no pics today, just me rambling about books and stuff. Have a good forth of July.

Things a whatnot

So, I've been whipping up a bunch of stuff as of late and it's a whole lot of fun. I made a pencil case and matching change purse that is going up for sale today. Finished the blocks and sent them out and now you can see them because she recieved them. There was a disaster at the last minute, they shrunk!

A dream of a craft center for putting things that I drew up the other day.
And I don't have any pictures with me of the change purse, but that will come tomorrow. Go check out the pencil clutch in my etsy store. That is all I have for today. I need to get back to work.
